Beads aren’t just for jewelry anymore. There are so many other things you can glitz, and the Glitz WHAT? series is all about glitzing your world. Today we are going to dress up a common, every day item: Bobby pins. Who doesn’t use them. I mean really? I probably use an average of 4 every day. This project is so easy and will add a darling little touch to any hairdo.
Start by collecting your choice of beads. Flat-backed beads work the best, but you can do it with any bead. Even a collection of three or four small beads next to each other would be fabulous. You will also need your choice of bobby pins and a tube of E-6000 glue. I have tried other glues for this type of project, and this is by far the best because it is both strong and flexible, so the bead won’t just crack off the first time you pull the pin out of your hair.Apply a small bead of glue to the bobby pin (I actually discovered after doing a ton of these that it was easier for me to add the glue to the bead, but either will work).
Set the bead on the bobby pin in the desired location. Be sure that the glue does not get between the two sides of the bobby pin and glue it closed.Leave the finished product upside-down for an hour or more to dry. Make sure that the bobby pin does not fall over while the glue is drying. Ta-Da! Cute, simple project. Aren’t you proud of yourself? Now go and dress up those hair-dos! Perfect for a simple touch, or some elegant bling. Thanks for stopping by!
